Arrival Day : Arrival - Moshi/Arusha

Upon arrival at the airport, a TravelEdward representative will meet you up and drive you to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, where you will spend the night, unwind, and get ready for the trekking ahead.

Day 1: Machame Hut camp

We travel a short distance to reach the Machame trailhead (5,380′). We will go up through the montane forests, looping up the mossy jungle, and making our way to Machame Hut camp once the climbers and staff have checked in with the park officials.

Day 2: Shira Plateau

Our journey through the forest resumes after breakfast. We’ll take our time and enjoy the view as we travel over the moorlands. Spectacular views of Kibo summit will be presented to us.
4- to 6-hour hike
Altitude at Night: 12,500′

Day 3: Barranco camp

Since you ascend high and sleep low, today’s day is long but full of acclimatization. Before descending to the Barranco valley, we will do an acclimatization climb to Lava Tower (15,190′), where we will have lunch. There is the option to climb the Lava Tower itself for those with the stamina and if time and weather permit. Today’s view is breathtaking as it travels across several mountain regions.
6–8 hours for hiking

Day 4: Karanga Camp

In order to prepare for your impending summit push, you will continue to acclimatize today and help your body get used to these higher elevations. Before reaching Karanga camp, ascend the challenging Barranco Wall and traverse a number of slopes and troughs. In the afternoon, there should be enough time for an acclimatization hike.
4-5 hours for a hike
13,106′ Overnight Altitude

Day 5: Barafu Camp

You will complete your circuit today and reach your last camp before the peak (Barafu camp). There are several ascents and descents along the peaks and valleys. After an early dinner and a short nap, you’ll get up about 11:00 PM to begin tomorrow’s summit trek.
3–4 hours for hiking
Nighttime Altitude: 15,331 feet

Day 6: Summit and Mweka Camp

Start your hike at midnight, leading the route slowly up to Stella Point and eventually the top with the help of your headlamps. You must dress appropriately for the cold and hike slowly due to the height. After rejoicing and taking pictures at the top, descend to Mweka camp.
6-7 hours to the peak, followed by 6–9 hours of descent
Summit: 19 341 feet
Altitude at Night: 10,500′

Day 7: Mweka Park Gate (~5,000’) to Arusha/Moshi

To get to Mweka Gate, we complete the last descent through the rainforest. Before departing Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, we will eat lunch here and bid our mountain team farewell. Have a nice shower and a celebratory dinner before returning to Arusha. or Moshi
